Portraits Are More Than Paper

Credit for this post goes to Jeanine at Fototails Photography.  Jeanine wrote this post yesterday, publishing a letter she received from a client.  Her client expressed what so many of us don’t realize until it is too late, and very quickly, this post is “going viral” on Facebook.  I am reposting it here for my clients, friends, and family with the hope that you all may realize just how important portraits, snapshots, and images truly are to our loved ones.

A letter on my door step. Portraits are more than paper.

There will be no portrait photos in this post.  This letter wasn’t mailed – it was at my doorstep when I got home a couple months ago.  I read it, I cried, and read it again – probably a hundred times by now.  It wasn’t easy to read – and honestly, as much as it validates what I do for a living – I wasn’t sure I was going to share it either – Until today, when a past client said that my print prices were too expensive.  If you choose to read through the letter, you will know why I’ve finally chosen to share it. If you are pregnant and have your baby during this time, I will still do my best to set up a session for your newborn. If you have any questions, during those times, please feel free to contact me by email, and I will respond as soon as I can.

Creative Memories StoryBooks Now Available

I signed up to be a Creative Memories Consultant for two reasons: 1) I love scrapbooking, and I really like their products, and 2) I want to be able to offer their StoryBook line of digital memory books as part of my photography business.

I made a test book last week and it got here today. It is absolutely GORGEOUS! The cover is off-white linen, and the pages are perfection! My mind is now going crazy with ideas of what I can do with these.

Astonished and Surprised

As I posted below, this past weekend, I went to La Grande for the opening reception of the Season’s Faire Art Show because I had three prints submitted to the show, which is being held at Nightingale Gallery on the EOU Campus.

My personal favorite of the three is this one, Nature Twisted, and now I have even more reason for it to be my favorite. I won an Honorable Mention Prize in the show for this image!!! How exciting! I don’t even know what to say about it I am so astonished! I believe I even uttered a “holy ****” when they announced my name because I was standing at the back of the room, half asleep, not at all expecting to receive an award. The calibur of other photographers there was amazing, and I am humbled to have been recognized in such a manner.

So, here’s the proof, the certificate awarded to me Saturday night (yay for me!):
I hope all have had a great weekend, I will touch base again later this week. I am completely bogged-down proofing sessions, but I’ll post a few teases now and then!

On Display

For those of you in the LaGrande area, I thought I’d let you know that I have some artwork (prints) going up in Nightingale Gallery on the Eastern Oregon University Campus. The show’s opening reception (Season’s Faire) is this Saturday, and the show runs for approximately two weeks.

The Season’s Faire is a wonderful opportunity to be able to enjoy many different art media being shown by quite a few local artists. If you have the opportunity, I would strongly encourage you to visit the campus and gallery. It will be well worth your time!
